Colorful Fresher’s Reception and Farewell Ceremony at the Department of Law, Premier University
The Department of Law at Premier University organized a colorful reception and farewell ceremony to welcome the newly admitted students of the 55th, 56th, and 57th batches of the LLB (Honours) program and to bid farewell to the outgoing students of the 45th and 46th batches. The event took place on Thursday, 16 October 2025, at 11:00 AM in the university’s central auditorium at the Dampara campus.
The event was graced by Professor S. M. Nasrul Quadir, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Premier University, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Anup Kumar Biswas, Chairman of the Department of Law. The special guests included Professor Md. Morshed Mahmud Khan, Adjunct Dean of the Faculty of Law; Ms. Tanzina Alam Chowdhury, Assistant Dean; Mr. Mohammad Solaiman Chowdhury, Proctor of the University; and Mr. Soyeb Uddin Khan, Special Magistrate (Joint District Judge) of Chattogram City Corporation. Also present were Mr. Rezaul Karim Rony, Public Prosecutor (PP) of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Chattogram, and Mr. Mokarram Hossain.
In his speech, Vice-Chancellor Professor S. M. Nasrul Quadir spoke with heartfelt emotion about the enthusiasm of the new students and the sentiments of the departing ones. He advised the newcomers to prepare themselves for real-life challenges and to grow into humane individuals. “To achieve that,” he said, “you must study sincerely and practice compassion. The Department of Law at Premier University has earned recognition across Bangladesh, thanks to the dedication of its faculty members.” He further stated, “Education is not merely a profession—it is a philosophy of life. Premier University is committed to nurturing students who embody both knowledge and morality. The Department of Law stands as one of the leading departments in this noble mission. Today’s reception and farewell ceremony clearly demonstrate that our students are not confined to textbooks—they are enriched with culture, humanity, and social awareness.”
In his remarks, Professor Md. Morshed Mahmud Khan said, “Premier University—and especially its Department of Law—possesses everything necessary to transform individuals into true human beings. I hope you will not consider yourselves merely law students but will see yourselves as responsible citizens dedicated to the welfare of the country and society.”
Ms. Tanzina Alam Chowdhury urged both new and outgoing students to become morally upright individuals. Addressing the new students, she said, “Your journey begins today. Let perseverance, honesty, and humanity be your companions along the way. A university does not only award degrees—it also entrusts you with the responsibility of advancing the nation and society. It is your generation that will bear that responsibility.”
University Proctor Mr. Mohammad Solaiman Chowdhury, while discussing the Code of Conduct, advised students to strictly adhere to it to uphold the university’s reputation.
In his presidential address, Chairman Mr. Anup Kumar Biswas stated, “Legal education is a field where knowledge must go hand in hand with ethics. Our department has always endeavored to inspire in students a spirit of research, reasoning, and social responsibility. We hope that those who are graduating today will become symbols of justice and integrity in society.”
Dr. Meher Nigar, Convener of the Eve-Teasing Prevention Committee, discussed measures to prevent sexual harassment.
The program was conducted by Md. Asif Uddin and Adiba Tabassum Joya. On behalf of the new students, Bhumika Mahajan, Maisha Hasnat, and Rehuma Kamal delivered speeches, while Nasima Akter Esha and Supongkor Barua spoke on behalf of the outgoing students.
Teachers and students of the Department of Law were present at the event. The ceremony concluded with a captivating cultural performance.
